FAQs
What is the difference between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist?
To call yourself a dietitian, you must have the credentials! To earn these credentials, dietitians-to-be must first earn a bachelor’s degree or equivalent credits from an accredited program at a university or college. Furthermore, they must undergo an internship and pass a board national exam. They must also continue their professional development by completing on-going education credits, which helps them keep up with the ever-evolving field.
The term “nutritionist” is not as regulated as a “dietitian” and tends to have more general meaning. In some cases, the title “nutritionist” can be used by anyone, even if they do not have any professional education or training.
Who do you work with?
I work with a variety of individuals: business professionals, busy parents, people that need to address health concerns, or those that just want to learn how to eat better. Reach out to me to see if I can help your specific need!
I eat a lot of ethnic foods, can you still help?
Healthy eating habits – such as consuming vegetables and fresh fruit, whole grains, healthy fats and quality sources of protein while limiting processed foods where possible – are universal. With that said, my parents were immigrants and I grew up on Vietnamese food. I understand the ties to cultural foods and you don't have to eliminate them! I can guide you towards mindfulness, and ultimately help you understand from a nutritional standpoint what are better choices within the foods you love.
I can't afford it, but still need help.
If you can't afford it right now for whatever reason, please still reach out to me. I love to help! I can give you a few free resources that will point you in the right direction.
I have a personal trainer- will you work with them?
I will happily work with your personal trainer to find a nutritional plan that works with your training regimen. And if you are looking for a personal trainer, I know several amazing trainers in the Orange County area that I can highly recommend.
What type of payments do you accept?
I accept cash, Venmo, or Zelle. Unfortunately, I currently do not accept insurance.
